The Lifeway Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established to make a difference in the community. What originally began as the work of a local church (Salem Full Gospel Church), has expanded to involve the resources and efforts of those from various churches/synagogues, foundations and businesses in the state of Missouri. The original services, offered through the “Shepherd’s Nook Food Pantry”, have been provided to the community at no charge, with an all-volunteer group of employees, including Directors, since 2001. The Directors began to realize, in the last couple of years, that more was needed than just immediate food relief. As manufacturing jobs have been lost in this area, there is also a need to re-educate and re-train the local populace who have lost jobs or suffered setbacks due to underemployment or under-education. With the donation of the 12,000 square foot building currently being remodeled, the food ministry can be augmented by an education and training capability whereby adults can earn their GED and other vocational skills via the internet in a classroom/training area located inside the Lifeway Center. This facility will be manned and operated by local professionals with graduate level college degrees, trained in these areas of social work. These people have already been identified and have expressed considerable interest in doing this work. The first step to accomplishing this is to refurbish the facilities to allow this, and install internet capabilities, etc.
The Executive Director of the Lifeway Center is William A. Stack. Bill has the following education, training, and credentials: 1990 graduate of U.S. Military Academy at West Point, B.S. Civil Engineering, served with 3rd Armored Division during the Persian Gulf War. Bill has worked in the financial planning industry since 1993, with licenses in the securities industry (Series 6, 7, 63, 65) and insurance industry (Life, Health, Variable Contracts), and is credentialed in the fields of Gerontology as a CSA (Certified Senior Advisor), and in the financial planning industry with CEA (Certifed Estate Advisor), and CSFP (Chartered Senior Financial Planner) designations. Bill has a Masters Degree in Theology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary (Th.M.), is working on a Doctorate-level degree at another institution, and has been serving as the Pastor of Salem Full Gospel Church since 2000.
